HAVE LAPTOP – WILL TRAVEL.
Cerise Films, Inc. grew out of a project in Buenos Aires, where Gail Gilbert went to edit a package of spots for a client in Texas. She set up an edit suite in a hotel that replicated her luxurious office in Chicago. It had a big client monitor with great speakers. It had wireless internet with an extra laptop for the clients. It even had a stocked fridge and great munchies.
Everything went smoothly. The conversion from 220 to 110 was no problem. The PAL hotel TV was easily switched to NTSC. The lab prepped the dailies per her specs.
And when the clients came by, they loved it. They reviewed the dailies and couldn’t believe how easy it was. They all left that evening with plans to return the next day, but the shoot was still going on, and there were never-ending conference calls...... No one had time to come back to the edit suite.
So Gail just unplugged the laptop and went to them. They edited in the production office. They edited in the hotel bar.
They edited wherever the creatives happened to be. And after a few postings for the clients’ approval from the States, the job was done.
With the success of that experience, Gail could not go back to life as usual in a big post-production facility. She wanted to offer her clients an approach to the editorial process that is lighter on its feet. CERISE FILMS was originally created to produce small films. Now it has expanded to become a full-service operation that provides world-class film editorial service that is unique for each project. And with Gail’s fluency in Spanish and French, it is truly global-ready.
